Springtime's Best GetAway @ The Lido Palms

We post here for your enjoyment this delightfully charming article written for us by Elena and Rodney, frequent guests at Lido Palms for many years.

Springtime’s Best GetAway @ The Lido Palms
By E. Goldenberg & R. Brettler

Once upon a time, I decided to go with my friend to a
healing place. I needed help with my recently broken ankle.
I asked a few people where would be the best place, hoping
for a mineral water spa like we had in Russia. I took the
suggestion from the one who told me about the Lido Palms
of Desert Hot Springs. She said that she has been coming to
Desert Hot Springs for years and, after trying different
places, she found the Lido Palms, for the best experience
she had in the desert.

Now for years she visits, at least four to five times per
year. She also told me, the waters, also help with many
other physical difficulties, with rheumatism, stress relief,
detoxing, and has greatly aided her with overall
rejuvenation. She mentioned, that the drinking water from
Desert Hot Springs, also locally welled, is amazing, amongst
the finest in the world.

Knowing Anna, she know what she is talking about. OK,
I too can give the Lido Palms a try. We called. A pleasant
voice answered, belonging to Martin Lawler, the resident manager. He
gave us, quickly and gently, all the good information. We
felt already welcomed. He informed us, that the new
owners were coming this week and would be hosting a
fantastic outdoor bbq dinner. Rodney and Rosemary are
their names, and they wanted to celebrate with the Lido
Palm guests. Most of whom are return visitors.
So we packed and went. A short two hour drive, with
amazingly, no traffic, from Los Angeles, simply along the
Interstate Highway Ten East. Martin had provided helpful
directions. We exited left at the Desert Hot Springs / Palm
Springs offramp.
Finally, thankfully, we arrived to the Lido
Palms. And wow. My dear friend, Anna, was absolutely
right. Indeed, a desert paradise. With a magnificent
mountain view, caressing winds, gorgeous palm trees,
cooing birds, and a great landscaped cacti and succulent
garden. We went to the office, registered, and Martin
escorted us to our room.

And wow again. We had a room with our favorite
mattress, the exact one from home. a tempurpedic foam.
We were immediately comfortable. We had a fully equipped
kitchen. We love to cook. Oven, refrigerator, dishes, pots,
microwave, toaster, organic coffee provided by owners,
utensils, and other needed equipment and supplies to
continue to give a home feeling. This is the best for us. One
of us forgot to bring a robe, no problem, soft microfiber
ones were graciously provide in each room. In the evening
we had that great bbq party, all the guests of the Lido Palms
came. We felt amongst family and friends. Sharing
travelling stories, these fantastic waters, international
experiences.

And the waters, you thought we forgot. This is the main
reason we are here. Right when I stepped into the large
pool, my ankle was already thanking me and all my body
too. l was happy indeed. I began healing right away. My
friend felt similarly. Old impairments, hernia, gout, muscle
tightness, stress, lack of deep breathing, the ankle, all these
slowly dissolved in these incredible waters.
At the end of our trip which was about three or four
days, we were walking better. Pains disappeared. A few
pounds were shed. We were so happy. A sexy tan.
And oh, the stars at night, they were fabulous. The pools are
available 24/7. Floating on unique pool floats, looking up to
the heavens, with the quiet breeze, all together, a
stupendous and real treat. Los Angeles, that great city of
angels and angels, seemed far away. However, and as
usual, time went fast.

Numerous times during our stay, we used the jacuzzi
pool, the sauna, the indoor pool, and thought maybe for the
next visit, to take advantage of the incoming massage and
spa services. We thanked Martin and Rosa, manager and
maintenance, Rodney and Rosemary, the new owners, for
their warm and friendly hospitality. An excellent place the
Lido Palms. We counted 41 palm trees encircling the
outdoor pool and jacuzzi. These unique mineral waters,
come from the Lido Palms’ own onsite
well, as well as the fresh drinking water also.

My hebrew friend, said, we were privileged to use a
mikveh, a gathering of living healing waters, and here in the
desert, the midbahr, the place of the giving of the good
word, we were experiencing genuine mehnookhah,
rejuvenating, relaxing, and resting. My friend also shared,
that Tamar, the name of the street, of the Lido Palms, is the
Hebrew word for date palm, and that the palm was one of
seven species identifiable with the land of Israel, a place too
of a great desert.

The Lido provided web access and cable television,
both of which we used. When our springtime visit was
ending, we hoped to return soon. For those wanting to
venture out, there’s well known sites to see: Joshua Tree
National Park, the wonderful local Cabot Museum, and from
the mountain pass from Los Angeles, the magnificent
spectacle of the international wind turbines (tour
available). Palm Springs is on the other side of the highway,
less than twenty minutes distant, and the mountain tram
affords a sweeping panorama. For an authentic adult
vacation, this is one of the finest healing places.
