The top women golfers in the world are coming to the first 2010 major on the LPGA tour at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage. Last year two couples attended the tournament and stayed with us at the Lido Palms Resort and Spa. One of the couples is returning this week to again enjoy our mineral water pools while attending the Kraft Nabisco. We all are rooting for Michelle Wie to win her first major!
As an aside, when Rosemary and I initially came to Desert Hot Springs, we noted with some surprise a small Korean restaurant on Palm Ave. It's quite good. I believe this is the only Korean restaurant in the valley and given the more than 40 Korean members on the LPGA tour, you can be assured that it will be a pretty hopping place this coming weekend.

2010 Desert Hot Springs Spa Tour a Huge Success!
On the evening of February 18th, fourteen Desert Hot Springs hoteliers opened their doors to over 400 ticket holders of the 2010 Desert Hot Springs Spa Tour. Attendees
boarded buses provided for the event at Cabot’s Museum at 5:00 pm and spent the rest of the evening stopping for short visits at each hotel. Lido Palms Resort and Spa hosted over 200 Spa Tour visitors that evening as they toured The Spa, the three hot mineral water pools and the guest rooms opened for display. Many guests stopped to view the video presentation on Ai Chi, a form of meditative movements in water which is now being offered at The Lido Palms Resort and Spa and discussed the practice with instructor, Ann Moureau.Tourers ended their tour of The Lido Palms Resort and Spa with a visit to the chocolate fountain and a sip of champagne. A party atmosphere ensued thanks in large part to the hospitality of our volunteer staff for the evening. Needless to say, the evening was a huge success and we look forward to next year’s event

Spring at the Lido Palms in Desert Hot Springs
It was a cold winter season this year that included a good bit of rain in late January and early February. However, full days of rain failed to deter many of
our guests as they took advantage of a soothing hot soak in one of the Lido’s
hot mineral water pools . Resident Manager, Martin Lawler, just couldn’t resist a
photo op and gave a couple staying with us over a rainy weekend his umbrella
as they snuggled together in the pool. As a result of all the rains, we expect our cactus to be blossoming early this year. The ocotillo are already covered with green leaves and their orange blossoms should appear very soon. James and Marvella Koelling
spent four weeks at The Lido Palms in December, spanning the Christmas and New Year’s
holidays, and are now back home in Oregon. We have also had the pleasure of having a few long-term winter guests this year, including Dorothy and George Truss and Herta and Reiney Luther, both couples from New Jersey. Quite a few members of the extended Luther family took the opportunity to escape the cold weather and visit Mom and Dad at The Lido Palms Resort and Spa on several different trips. All were appreciative
of the beautiful weather we take for granted. What a wonderful close-knit family they are.
